Introduction

VoiceNote ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account Information: Email address and name when you sign in with Google or Apple
• Voice Data: Audio recordings you choose to convert to text
• Transcripts: Text converted from your audio recordings
• Settings: Your language preferences and app settings

Information Collected Automatically

• Device Information: Device type, operating system version
• Usage Data: Number of conversions, app usage patterns

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the app functionality
• Convert your voice recordings to text
• Sync your data across devices (if you enable cloud sync)
• Improve our app and user experience
• Respond to your inquiries and support requests

Data Storage

Local Storage

Your audio recordings and transcripts are primarily stored locally on your device. This data remains on your device unless you enable cloud sync.

Cloud Sync (Optional)

If you choose to enable cloud sync:

• Your profile and settings are stored on Supabase servers
• Data is encrypted in transit using TLS
• You can delete your cloud data at any time

Voice Processing

• Audio is processed locally using Apple's Speech Recognition
• We do not store your audio files on our servers by default
• Voice data storage can be enabled/disabled in Privacy Settings

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Advertising (Google AdMob)

VoiceNote+ shows a full-screen ad after a dictation is finished. Google's advertising SDK may collect device identifiers, coarse location derived from your IP address, and ad interaction data in order to serve and measure those ads. This happens inside Google's SDK; we do not receive or store any of it. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Your recordings and transcripts are never sent to the ad network. Audio is transcribed on your device and is not shared with Google for advertising.

We do not ask for permission to track you, and the app does not use Apple's advertising identifier for tracking. You can limit ad tracking in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. The optional Remove Ads purchase removes all advertising from the app.

VoiceNote+ on Android

The Android version works differently from the iPhone version in a few ways:

• No account. There is no sign-in on Android. Nothing is stored on Supabase or any other server of ours; your recordings, transcripts and history stay in the app's storage on your phone.
• Speech recognition is on-device only. Android uses OpenAI's Whisper model running on your phone. No audio or text leaves the device for transcription. The first time you choose a Whisper model, the app downloads the model file from Hugging Face; no recording or personal information is sent with that download.
• Advertising. The Android app shows a banner above the tab bar and a full-screen ad after a transcription is ready. Google's advertising SDK uses the Android advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in your phone's Settings › Privacy › Ads (or Settings › Google › Ads). In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland the app asks for consent through Google's consent form before showing ads. The Remove Ads purchase is made through Google Play.
• Deleting your data. Delete a recording in History, or uninstall the app to remove everything.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or trade your personal information. Apart from the advertising data collected by Google's SDK described above, we do not share it with third parties, except:

• When required by law
• To protect our rights or safety
• With your explicit consent

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your data
• Opt-out of cloud sync at any time
• Control voice data storage settings

Data Retention

• Local Data: Stored until you delete the app or clear app data
• Cloud Data: Stored until you delete your account or disable sync
• Audio Files: Stored only on your device; deleted when you remove them

Children's Privacy

VoiceNote is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date.
